Abstract
A thermodynamic theory of the cubic-orthorhombic phase transition in boracites is developed. The temperature dependences of dielectric, piezoelectric and elastic constants near the phase transition temperature are derived. Since the parameter of the phase transition is not the polarization, the spontaneous strains and polarization are not related by electromechanical constants. Magnetic properties of boracites are not considered.
