Abstract
The paper reports about investigations of moving striations in a positive column energetically affected by a strong h.f. field. It was found that a distinct change in striation parameters, i.e. a decrease in the amplification factor and phase velocity, occurs in a region where the additional electric field brings about an increase in intensity of plasma-creating processes. A phenomenological explanation of this effect is given, based on the knowledge of moving striations hitherto acquired.
