Abstract
Saturation induced minima of the output power of a He/Ne-laser appear if Zeeman splitting equals the frequency separation. These minima have been investigated as a function of pressure. The results show pressure broadening caused by velocity changing and alignment destroying collisions. In contrast to Lamb-dip measurements the effect of phase changing collisions on collision broadening is negligible.
