Clinical evaluation of cefadroxil: A multicenter trial I. Acute lower respiratory tract infections

Summary

Thirty-two hospitalized patients with acute lower respiratory tract infections were treated in a longitudinal study with oral cefadroxil, a new semisynthetic cephalosporin with a broad anti-bacterial spectrum. In 30 of these 32 patients (93.6%) the causative organisms were eradicated and clinical cure was achieved in 31 patients (97%) with no significant demonstrable side-effects.

Zusammenfassung

Zweiunddreißig stationäre Patienten mit akuten Infektionen des unteren Respirationstraktes wurden in einer Längsschnittstudie mit Cefadroxil, einem neuen, halbsynthetischen Chephalosporin mit breitem antibakteriellem Spektrum behandelt. Bei 30 dieser 32 Patienten (93,6%) wurden die verantwortlichen pathogenen Erreger eliminiert, und bei 31 Patienten (97%) wurde eine klinische Heilung erzielt, ohne daß signifikant nachweisbare Nebenwirkungen auftraten.
