Summary

A general mathematical treatment is given for the problem of eliminating the effect of orientation distributions in fiber diagrams. The method involves the inversion of an integral transform the kernel of which is determined by an orientation function already derived in an earlier paper (Ruland andTompa (3)). The inversion can be obtained by a development of the intensity distributions into a series of Legendre polynomials.
