Dorothy S. Arthur is a Workshop Instructor for the Maryland Committee for Children. The Maryland Committee for Children (MCC) is a voluntary nonprofit educational/charitable organization that serves as an advocate for children in the formation of public policy. It is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the need for child care among all social and economic groups and to enriching the content of existing day care and preschool programs to foster optimal child development. MCC conducts a wide variety of training programs, workshops, seminars and a “Creative Preschool Training Week.” It operates ReSTORE, a recycling center for discarded or excess industrial materials which can be used by child care providers and parents to provide learning activities for children at a fraction of the usual cost. It maintains a “Job Board”, a resource library, provides consultation services and furnishes informal information and referral service for child care placement.
