Summary

The solution of the two-dimensional stress problem in an anisotropic medium is given in closed form for the boundary conditions of a concentrated load at a point on the straight boundary of a semi-infinite plate. The properties of a periodic repetition of such concentrated loads are discussed and compared with an existing observation of a non-uniform stress distribution in α-iron.
