Energy dependences of several reactions of N +2 ions with atomic and molecular reactants

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics B Aims and scope

Abstract

In a drift experiment the reactions of N +2 with Ar, Kr, Xe, O2, NO and C12 were investigated in the regime from near thermal up to a few eV relative kinetic energyKE cm of the reactants. In the cases of Ar and Kr two declines of the N +2 ion signals were observed at allKE cm values, indicating the presence of two N +2 species reacting with different rate coefficients. The two N +2 species were identified as N +2 (X,ν = 0) and N +2 (X,ν > 0). No differences in the reactivities of vibrationally excited and non-excited N +2 were observed in the reactions with all the other above-mentioned reactants.
