Abstract
Simulation, a technique familiar to business and higher education, is presented in the context of training in early childhood education. Simulation refers to the creation of an environment which represents situations and personnel roles in actual work experience. Participants adopt roles of persons in the early childhood decision making process. Procedures for development of the simulation situation, creation of “in-box” materials, training, roles of facilitators and recorders, formats, and evaluation are described. Environmental and procedural cues for a successful simulation are summarized.
