Abstract
The issue of employee turnover is frequently addressed in the childcare community. The authors of this paper identify this problem in terms of the workers' inability to negotiate certain key demands experienced at various levels of their professional growth. To help identify some of these demands, a comparison of occupational and social/emotional stages of growth and development has been offered. The intent being to familiarize the reader with the changing difficulties experienced by child care workers at various stages in their careers. Through this awareness, supervisory level child-care staff should be better equipped to offer instruction and guidance.
