R. Douglas Hurt received his Ph.D. in American history from Kansas State University. His specialization is American agricultural history. He is the author ofThe Dust Bowl: An Agricultural and Social History andAmerican Farm Tools: From Hand-Power to Steam-Power as well as articles in scholarly and popular journals. He is Associate Editor ofTimeline, the Ohio Historical Society's history magazine, and Adjunct Associate Professor of History at The Ohio State University.
