Laura Ricard has a Ph.D in Early American History from the University of New Hampshire. She is an instructor in History at Phillips Exeter Academy where she offers a course titled, “The Land and the American Experience.” She has published pieces inHistorical New Hampshire andFides Et Historia. Currently she is writing fiction.
Harry Iglesias is a faculty member of the University of Panama, College of Communications. At the University of Kentucky he is currently working on a Ph.D. degree.
Douglas Hemken is a graduate student at the University of Kentucky in the Dept. of Sociology. He has recently returned to the USA following four years living and working in village Nepal with the Peace Corps.
Shripad Deo is a doctoral candidate at the University of Kentucky. His dissertation topic is "Dependency and Development in India." His research interests include agricultural biotechnolgy and its impact on agriculture and agricultural research in third world, technology transfer, science and technology policy, and political economy of development and underdevelopment.
FREDERICK H. BUTTEL is Professor of Rural Sociology at Cornell University. His research interests are in sociological aspects of technology, environmental sociology, and rural social change. Buttel was recently elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is currently a member of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council/Board on Agriculture Committee on “Managing Global Genetic Resources: Agricultural Imperatives.”
