Summary
The following ions: Cu++, Ag+, Hg2 ++, Hg++, PtCl6 −-, Pd++, Au+++ in acid solution, produced insoluble compounds with an aqueous solution of potassium dicyanoguanidine. Ferric ion produced a red coloration with the same reagent. The results obtained with PtCl6 −-, Pd++ and Fe+++ are sufficiently characteristic to be used for the detection of these ions.
