Conclusions
The above technique can be used for determining with relative simplicity the phase transition temperature of a number of high melting point oxides. The mean temperature of the fusion-solidification point of corundum is 2044±4°C, which is in good agreement with the experimental data recently obtained by several investigators [3, 9, 10]. It is, therefore, possible to recommend the corundum point as a secondary reference point of the International Practical Temperature Scale.
