Abstract
Aluminum alloys with lithium are a promising light metallic alloy for aerospace engineering. At present about 10 lithium-alloyed aluminum alloys have been developed. These materials are distinguished from other aluminum alloys by an elevated toughness at a lowered density and a high level of strength characteristics. A disadvantage of the materials consists in a relatively low plasticity, in particular, a low elongation. This defect is not possessed by alloy 1430, which is characterized by a quite high plasticity, especially in sheets with a recrystallized structure. The present work is devoted to the effect of preliminary cold deformation on grain growth in the process of hardening and the properties of sheets of alloy 1430 in different states. The effect of deformation between hardening and artificial aging on the properties of this alloy is investigated.
