Conclusions
It is shown that the melt-pool during the induction melting of oxides in cold crucibles can be described using the coefficients of the crystallizing front and the shape of the melt-pool. A connection has been established between these coefficients and the productivity of the process and the quality of the structure and surface of the crystallized block.
The best technicoeconomic indices for the melting of oxides are obtained when the melt-pool is conical in shape with an angle of 90° to the apex. A high-quality fused material is obtained when melting is carried out with a cylindrical melt-pool and with a plane crystallization front.
The dependence of the coefficient of the crystallization front on the temperature of the melt and of the shape coefficient of the melt-pool on the cooling conditions of this melt have been demonstrated.
