Conclusions
The compaction process of an aluminum magnesium spinel without any additions and doped with LiF is associated with the creep of grains after pressing in the intermediate stage at 720–1100°C.
In the final stage, compaction of the aluminum magnesium spinel without and with a 0.15% addition of LiF is caused by viscous flow; with a 0.26% or more addition, it is caused by the presence of a liquid phase which reacts with the solid material.
