Summary
Palladium(II) complexes of thioacetamide, thiooxamide,N o,N o-dimethylthiooxamide and ethyl thiooxamidate have been prepared and investigated by electronic and i.r. spectroscopy. It is concluded that the ligands always act as monodentate sulphur donors, and that planar [PdL4]X2 (X = Cl, Br or ClO4) compounds are formed. Theν(PdS) frequencies and the ligand field strengths are enhanced by electron donor groups and lowered by electron withdrawing groups.
