Abstract
The scattering amplitude for the scattering of circularly polarized KeV photons by a magnetized 3d transition metal is derived. In addition to the well-known form factor approximation a spin dependent term is found. It is smaller by a factor ω/mc 2 (ω being the photon energy) and proportional to the spin magnetic form factor. Results for the degree of polarization are too small to explain recent experiments.
