Photon polarization effects in compton scattering on relativistic electrons

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik

Abstract

Photon polarization effects in Compton scattering on unpolarized electrons are calculated in the first Born approximation by using the covariant formalism. The general expressions are specialized with regard to the production of hardγ-rays by the scattering of laser photons by relativistic electrons. Results are given for various polarizations of the initial photon and three electron energies in the GeV region.
