Conclusions
The high-temperature erosion resistance of periclase materials depends on the cohesion strength of the grains in the material and on the vaporization rate under given conditions. Among the periclase materials tested the erosion resistance was found to be highest in the coarse-grain specimen containing zirconium dioxide in the fine-dispersion part of its structure.
The erosion process of periclase materials can be divided into two periods in terms of the testing time, viz. an early nonstationary one in which the erosion rate is high, and a steady-state period in which erosion entrainment is on a low level.
