Conclusions
The presence of parts with internal macrostructural and geometric defects in lots of continuous casting machine refractories confirms the necessity and economic desirability of 100% x-ray inspection of them. Continuous x-ray inspection eliminates shipment to the user of parts with unacceptable internal defects and thereby reduces the probability of occurrence of emergency situations and early failure of the refractories, increases the life of the parts, reduces consumption of them, and increases the productivity of the continuous casting machine.
The results of certification of the RAD-200K x-ray inspection unit confirmed its conformity to technical characteristics and the possibility of use in 100% inspection of graphite-containing continuous casting machine refractory parts for the absence in them of internal macrostructural and geometric defects.
