Conclusions
An investigation was carried out on the change in the angle of wetting θ of iron 3ZhR and steel Kh16 on specimens of the corundum lining of the crucible after the campaign, and of the influence of the oxides of the alloying constituents on the wettability of the corundum lining by the molten metal.
It was established that the wettability of the lining specimens depends on the length of their stay in the melt. An increase in the holding time results in an increase in the adhesion activity of the specimens relative to the wetting metal; the most active part in this respect is the working layer. The results of the investigation were used at the Elektrostal' Plant for the development of a technology for melting various alloys.
