Role of adrenoreceptors in the activation of the hypothalamo-hypophyseo-testicular complex of mice elicited by the presence of the female

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The blockade of α1-adrenoreceptors by prazosin completely blocks the increase in the T level in the plasma of the peripheral blood of male mice elicited by the presence of a receptive female.

  2. 2.

The blockade of β2-adrenoreceptors by optimol is accompanied by an intensification of the stimulating affect (which is dependent on genotype) of the presence of a receptive female on the blood level of the male sex hormone.

  3. 3.

The results obtained provide a basis for the conclusion that in male mice, under conditions of sexual activation elicited by the presence of a receptive individual of the opposite sex, the stimulating influences on the endocrine function of the testes are realized through the α1-adrenoreceptors, while the inhibiting influences are realized through the β2-adrenoreceptors.
