Properties of plaque variants of herpes virus hominis strains of genital origin

  • Published:
Archiv für die gesamte Virusforschung Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Plaque morphology of herpes virus hominis is further characterized as a mode of differentiation between genital strains and non-genital strains. These phenomena are independent of cell lines and plaque media used.

Clones isolated from large plaques of genital strains produce constantly both large and small plaques. Clones from small plaques of these strains produce only small plaques. Clones of the small plaques of the non-genital strains give always rise to small plaques.
