Ultramicro determination of iodine in drinking water on the basis of Feigl's catalytic reaction

Summary

A quantitative ultramicro method is given for the determination of 0.025–0.2 μg iodide-iodine in 14 ml volume, on the basis of the catalytic acceleration of the redox reaction between chloramine-T and N,N′-tetramethyldiaminodiphenylmethane. The method is especially suitable for the determination of traces of iodine in drinking water.

Zusammenfassung

Eine quantitative Ultramikromethode für die Bestimmung von 0,025 bis 0,2μg Iodid in 14 ml Lösung wurde beschrieben. Sie beruht auf der katalytischen Beschleunigung der Redoxreaktion zwischen Chloramin T und N,N'-Tetramethyldiaminodiphenylmethan. Die Methode ist besonders geeignet für die Bestimmung von Jodspuren in Trinkwasser.

Description d'une ultramicrométhode quantitative pour le dosage de 0,025 à 0,2μg d'iodure et d'iode dans un volume de 14 ml, fondée sur l'accélération catalytique de la réaction d'oxydo-réduction entre la chloramine-T et le N,N'-tétraméthyldiaminodiphénylméthane. La méthode est particulièrement appropriée au dosage de traces d'iode dans l'eau potable.
