Peter Dickinson was born in Africa and educated at Eton and Cambridge. His adult crime novels have twice won the Crime Writers' Golden Dagger Award and he was runner up for the 1970 Guardian Award for Children's Fiction with the science fiction novelHeartsease. His other books for children areThe Weathermonger andThe Devil's Children andEmma Tupper's Diary to be published next spring (Gollancz) which makes a departure from science fiction. He is married with four children.
