Summary

It is shown that water from laboratory purification units may be contaminated by various elements present in the air of a chemical laboratory, in particular by Na, Mg, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, and Zn, if no special precautions are taken. These contaminations may be of great importance in trace element analysis. Contamination of plastic foils and quartz, which are used in analytical procedures, is also investigated.
