Absorption spectra and molecular structure analogous behavior of azo and imino groups

Summary

  1. 1.

    The experimental data presented in this paper show that the replacement of -N = N- and therefore other analogous groups, by - NH - in certain conjugated systems does not interrupt the conjugation.

  2. 2.

    In the case of arylhydrazones of 9-acrid inecarboxaldehyde this replacement is accompanied by a considerable shift of the maximum of the main absorption band towards the longer waves.
