Summary
-
1.
It has been established that, when silicon tetrafluoride reacts with e two-fold excess of phenyl- or ptolyl-magnesium bromide under the conditions of the Grignard synthesis, the corresponding tetraarylsilane is obtained in good yield.
-
2.
Fluorotri-p-tolylsilane has been synthesized for the first time, and some of its properties have been determined.
