Summary
It was shown that isomerization of alkenes with displacement of the double bond and hydrogen exchange in ] hydrocarbons both belong to the class of acid-base reactions; they are catalyzed by amide ions in ammoniacal solutions and by solid amides under heterogeneous conditions.
