Summary

  1. 1.

It was shown that the dichloromethyl-1-naphthylsilane obtained by the organomagnesium method contains bromochloromethyl-1-naphthylsilane as impurity.

  2. 2.

The procedure for preparing pure arylalkyldichlorosilanes was improved.

  3. 3.

Conditions were found for the preparation of alkylarylsilanediols in the pure state by the hydrolysis of alkylaryldihalosilanes.

  4. 4.

The following substances were prepared and characterized for the first time. methyl-1-naphthylsilanediol, ethyl- 1-naphthylsilanediol, dichloroethyl-1-naphthylsilane, chloroethyldi-1-naphthylsilane, chloromethyldi-1-naphthylsilane, the dibutyl ether of methyl-1-naphthylsilanediol, and the diacetic ester of methyl-1-naphthylsilanediol.
