Abstract
The thermodynamic activities and the heats of mixing of liquid Au−Co alloys have been determined using aKnudsen cell in combination with a mass spectrometer. At 1770 K the maximum value of the excessGibbs free energy, ΔG E, is 790 cal/g-atom (63 at% Co), the maximum value of the heat of mixing, ΔH, is 1930 cal/g-atom (42 at% Co).
