Maxine Walker lectures on the selection of materials for school and children's libraries at the Western Australian Institute of Technology. When time permits, she also runs a course on Australian literature for children. She has published various articles on book selection for children in Australian journals and one book-Writers Alive (Perth, Westbooks, 1977)—a study of the work of some contemporary Australian writers for children.
