Conclusions

  1. 1.

Feasiblity has been demonstrated for the use of a layer-by-layer model in calculating the frontal dynamics of sorption of strontium, calcium, and sodium on the sodium form of KB-4 P2 cation-exchange resin. This model has been used in calculating the sorption of these elements in columns with various bed lengths, and from solutions differing in composition.

  2. 2.

Feasibility in principle has been demonstrated for quantitative separation of strontium and calcium under frontal conditions on KB-4 P2 cation-exchange resin in the Na form in long columns (2 m or longer). Depending on the composition of the original solution, the concentrations of strontium in the filtrate with frontal separation of the elements may be 3–10 times greater than in the original solution.
