Bruce Carrington teaches in the School of Education, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. He has contributed papers to various journals and books on race and ethnic relations.

Martyn Denscombe teaches sociology at Leicester Polytechnic, U.K. His main research interest is the ethnography of schools and classroom life. He is the author ofClassroom Control: A Sociological Perspective (Allen & Unwin, 1985).
