Synthesis and structure of polymeric compounds obtained from saturated alkylaromat1c compounds

Summary

  1. 1.

    A laboratory method was developed for the preparation of polymers by the pyrolysis of alkylaromatic compounds.

  2. 2.

    Polymeric products were synthesized from ethylbenzene, cumene, p-cymene, and diisopropylbenzene, and their structures were established with the aid of infrared spectroscopy.

  3. 3.

    Explanations are given for some of the peculiarities of the polydehydrocondensation reaction.
