Abstract

The crystal structures of the title compounds have been determined by three-dimensional X-ray data (2 215 and 2 439 reflections, respectively) and refined to anR-value of 0.11 (0.10). The two compounds crystallize with very similar structures and have triclinic symmetry, space groupP \(\bar 1\),Z=2. The cell parameters are:a=13.975 (13.752),b=12.324 (12.283),c=7.065 (7.147) Å, α=73.89 (73.75), β=74.83 (75.05), γ=72.21 (71.65)°. The torsion angles of the biphenyl rings are 99.6 and 99.8°.
