To obtain an estimate

$$R_{\mathop \Delta \limits^o 1,\mathop \Delta \limits^o 2}^ * [\overline {\lambda _1 } ,_2 ]$$

of the ECCF in two channels of a multichannel instrument or for two instruments an indirect procedure is recommended, namely to compute estimates of the ECCF from the estimateϕ *(Tmu) determined in monitoring of the instrument. The symbol Tmu denotes the time interval whose beginning is marked by a signal (voltage drop) at the output of one of the monitored instrument channels (or instruments) and whose end is marked by another signalϕ(Tmu), i.e., a function whose values are the variance of the errors introduced by the instrument in the time intervals Tmu for fixed input signals.
