Dr W. H. Plommer is lecturer in classical archaeology at the University of Cambridge, His comment on the Report of the General Board was prepared for delivery in the discussion of the Report held in the Senate House on 21 January, 1975. The first part of Dr. Plommer's observations was printedin Cambridge University Reporter, CV, 17. no. 4888 (5 February, 1975), pp. 674–676. The final section, which Dr. Plommer could not deliver in the discussion because of the “ten-minute rule”, has not been published previously.
