Summary
-
1.
Homogeneous and mixed terephthalic, isophthalic, perfluoroadipic, and perfluorosebacic polyesters of 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphenol and of 4,4′-[α-(trifluoromethyl)benzylidene]diphenol were synthesized.
-
2.
The replacement of CH3 groups on the central carbon atom of dian by CF3 groups leads to a lowering of the softening points of homogeneous and mixed polyesters based on dian.
-
3.
Homogeneous and mixed hexafluorodian and [(trifluoromethyl)benzylidene]diphenol polyesters form clear stable films from solution.
-
4.
4,4′-[α-(Trifluoromethyl)benzylidene]diphenol was synthesized by the condensation of 2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenone with phenol.
