Abstract

The collection efficiency of twelve airborne environmental contaminants (organic solvent vapors) on activated carbon was assessed indirectly. The collection efficiency values of the solvents were excellent; the mean collection efficiency was 99.5±0.31%. There was no statistical difference (p>0.10) between the mean collection efficiency value vs the theoretically possible value of 100.0%. The results indicated that losses during collection of solvents on activated carbon are small and negligible.
