Abstract

There have been numerous attempts over the years to explain the causes of behavior disorders in children. The causes of these disorders may have many roots and presently a clear explanation has not been agreed upon. Followers of the psychodynamic orientation attempt to understand psychopathology by carefully analyzing when and why the disturbances occurred. This paper will provide an overview of numerous theories under the rubric of the psychodynamic orientation. A rationale for the development of pathology will be discussed applying various theories as a source of explanation.
