kϱc or\(\sqrt {k\varrho c} \)? — thermal inertia or thermal absorptivity?

Abstract

It is shown that\(\sqrt {k\varrho c} \), not kϱc, should be looked upon as a basic material property. It is argued that the name “thermal absorptivity” should be adopted for that material property.
