Analysis of rib supports for circular tunnels in elastic ground

  • Published:
Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The response of circumferential ribs used to support a long circular tunnel in elastic ground is investigated. A rib-ground interaction solution is described for biaxial field stresses. A simplified procedure is also developed for predicting thrust and moment in rib supports.
