Summary
The urinary excretion products of chlormethiazol (distraneurin®, heminevrin®, hemineurin®) are isolated by high voltage electrophoresis and thin layer chromatography. Their structures are determined. The main product is 2-hydroxy-4-methyl-thiazol acetyl-(5)-glycine (60%). Four other excretion products are identified. Homogenates from liver, brain and kidney convert chlormethiazol, probably via a polar intermediate, into 2-hydroxy-4-methyl-and 4-methyl-thiazolacetic-acid-(5).
