Hydrostatic pressure compensator for measuring gas diffusion coefficients

Abstract

An apparatus is described for determining gas diffusion coefficients by the stationary flow method, which contains a pressure-balancing system to balance out the pressure difference at the ends of the diffusion channel and which enables one to alter the nondiffusional component of the mass transport. A device is described based on compensating the pressure difference from the dependence of the pressure on the height of the liquid column, not on the form of the diffusing gases.
