Abstract
The structure of the pollen wall as revealed by transmission electron microscopy is presented for 29 speciesSenecio including 19 aureoid and ten non-aureoid species. The previous report of a helianthoid wall structure (exine with internal foramina) is confirmed for all the aureoid species examined while all of the non-aureoid taxa showed a senecioid pattern. The data provide support for the treatment of the aureoid complex as a distinct taxon.
