Conclusion
In the presence of organic acids, the photochromic properties of 1,3,3-trlmethy1-5-nitro-6′-methoxyspiro(indoline-2,2′-[2H-1]-benzopyran) are changing. A hypsochromic shift of the absorption band of the colored form and a retardation of the thermal decoloration reaction are observed due to the formation of hydrogen bond complexes.
