1.
We studied the kinetic mechanisms in the linear oligomerization of butadiene and butadiene-d6 by the use of complex catalysts containing iron and cobalt. The limiting step in the linear oligomerization is the action of the excess butadiene in removing the initially formed oligomers from the coordination sphere of the central atom of the catalyst.

We propose a mechanism for the linear oligomerization of butadiene catalyzed by low-valence complexes of Co and Fe.
